Baltimore, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - The Baltimore Orioles acquired infielder Kelly Johnson and minor-league infielder Michael Almanzar from the Boston Red Sox on Saturday.
Johnson, 32, joins his third American League East team this season after appearing in 77 games for the Yankees and 10 for Boston. He has hit .212 with six home runs and 23 RBI on the year.
Almanzar was selected by Baltimore in the 2013 Rule 5 Draft but returned to Boston on July 1. He has 55 career home runs and 333 RBI in seven minor-league seasons.
The Orioles sent minor league infielders Jemile Weeks and Ivan De Jesus to the Sox.
It was the second trade of the night for Baltimore, which acquired outfielder Alejandro De Aza from the White Sox earlier in exchange for a pair of minor- league pitchers.
