A 60-year-old man crossing the street near Nellis Air Force Base was unconscious tonight after being hit by a minivan.

Metro Police are investigating the scene at Craig Road and Lamont Street, where the man was struck around 7 p.m., police said.

Several cars stopped for the man, but it was unclear whether he was walking in a crosswalk, police said

According to police, the pedestrian hit his head on the front windshield during the collision and was later taken to University Medical Center in serious condition.

The driver was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian, police said.
