LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- A Las Vegas man was in custody Monday night for growing pot out of his home.

SWAT officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department served a narcotics search warrant at a residence in the 8300 block of Fox Brook Court. They discovered a large indoor marijuana grow operation housing approximately 50 mature plants, with an estimated street value of $150,000.

Michael D. Herda, 23, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to sell and possession of marijuana.

This investigation was conducted by Southern Nevada Cannabis and Regional Enforcement, and is a HITDA funded task force. The investigation began after numerous citizen tips indicating suspicious activities were occurring at the residence.

Citizens who believe any type of illegal activity may be occurring anywhere within southern Nevada are encouraged to contact their local Police Department, or Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555 or at www.crimestoppersofnv.com.

Good job??? Look , pot is half way legalized anyways, and if the neighbors would kindly mind their own and police focus on more serious offenses such as meth and murder, then we wouldn't be wasting tax payers money on a man made plant but rather spend that money on the deadly drugs or maybe spend it on the tens of thousands of cold cases that still need to be solved.

Good job neighbors and Metro. Neighborhoods across the valley need to be aware what is happening in their neighborhood. This is not only a magnet for criminal activity but is a extreme fire hazard. For homeowners who rent out, do a thorough check on your proposed tenants, it will save you thousands in the end.
