NORTH LAS VEGAS -- Police have arrested Miquan Burton, 18, in connection with the murder of 18-year-old Tyrell Melton.
Melton was gunned down on July 3 at about 11:05 p.m., while standing with a group of friends at Via Maria Court and Rancho Del Norte Drive.
Burton allegedly shot from a vehicle into the group, fatally wounding Melton and injuring a 14-year-old girl. Melton died on Rancho Del Norte Dr. and the girl ran to a home on Via Maria Court.
After a warrant for his arrest was issued by the District Attorney's office, Burton was located in an apartment on Centennial Parkway on Tuesday, July 15 at about 10 a.m.
He was arrested and booked into the Las Vegas City Jail on four felony charges: murder with a deadly weapon, attempted murder, discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, and discharging a firearm from a vehicle.
The motive for the shooting is still under investigation, but appears to be gang related, according to police.
