LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- Spring break begins next week for local schools, and police are calling on parents to keep their children busy and out of harm's way.
Agencies from across the valley -- including Clark County School Police, Metro, North Las Vegas and Henderson police -- are sending a common message that it's important to sit down and talk with your kids about their spring break plans.
Because thousands of children will not be in school next week, Clark County School District Police Capt. Ken Young encourages drivers to slow down on the roads, keep an eye out for house parties and report any suspicious behavior.
“Make sure you're involved. Make the decisions,” Young said. “Don't be afraid to make the decisions for your students. Be the best investigator in your own home. We want all of our students back.”
Police also want to remind all drivers to slow down next week because kids will likely be out playing during the day.
