NORTH LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) --A 44-year-old North Las Vegas man claiming to be a doctor is under investigation for sexually assaulting several victims.
Police say Juan Alberto Ruan-Rivera claimed to be a doctor, chiropractor or therapist licensed in Mexico. He also claimed to be a distributor for supplements. His primary targets were Hispanics with no health insurance and suffering from various illnesses.
Investigators say Ruan-Rivera reportedly administered medications to his victims which made them drowsy. He then allegedly assaulted them after they were sedated.
His alleged victims include a 51-year-old Las Vegas woman, a 27-year-old woman from Victorville, Calif., and a 5-year-old Las Vegas boy. The abuse reportedly occurred in the suspect's North Las Vegas home from 2006 to the present.
The investigation began Feb. 13 when victims reported the abuse after he was arrested for domestic battery. Ruan-Rivera is in custody at the North Las Vegas Detention Center.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the allegations and the possibility that more victims may come forward. Since 2006 Ruan-Rivera has reportedly spent time in California living in Blythe, Victorville and Chula Vista. He has also lived in Alaska, Texas and Nevada.
Detectives are looking for additional witnesses. Anyone with information is urged to call the North Las Vegas Police Department at (702) 633-9111 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
