LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- Henderson police officers estimate there were about 150 guns inside the home of Edward Scheboth, the man who was shot and killed by police after allegedly opening fire on three police officers. The weapons have been collected, tagged and are being stored by the county, where they will be kept under 24-hour surveillance.

The Public Administrator will  try to get a hold of Scheboth's family and ask them what they want to do with the weapons. According to the public administrator John Cahill, Scheboth doesn't seem to have immediate family in town. He thinks the family lives back east.

If the family doesn't want to take the firearms, Cahill says the county can get authority to auction them off. At that point, the new owner would go through a background check, and there will be a check of the weapons transaction record. The check would then bring to light any problems with the guns.

The money earned from the sale would be sent to family members minus the county's costs.
