LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- Sanctions against Russia can be felt right here in Las Vegas.

For business owners who deal in Russian goods, the situation in Ukraine has them wondering about their futures.

All eyes are on Russia with suspicions it is supporting pro-Russian rebels. European countries, the United Nations and the United States are all imposing heavy sanctions on Russia.

Now, thousands of miles from the front lines, those sanctions are reflected on Las Vegas store shelves.

Sanctions target a handful of powerful Russian citizens. Russian companies and Russian products, including the Kalashnikov, or AK, a favorite among gun collectors.

“The initial AK-47 is the most popular weapon in history,” says Las Vegas business owner Robert Keller of K-Var. “There are over 100 million of them around the world.”

Keller, owner of K-Var Corporation in Las Vegas, is feeling the sanctions.

His company is the arms supplier for 5,000 gun stores in 49 states.

A third of his business is buying Russian guns and modifying them to American standards. His Russian pipeline is now frozen.

"Immediately when it was announced business went up, it just skyrocketed," Keller said.

The supply and demand is felt at the counter where Russian guns are big business as long as they have them.

Keller says he's trying to keep up with supply by prioritizing local gun stores, but the numbers of customers coming in means supplies are low.
