LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) — A man awaiting trial for sexual assault charges is now under investigation for an alleged threat to kill the 13-year-old alleged victim in the case.
According to the Clark County chief deputy district attorney, 48-year-old Richard Schlacta was heard plotting to kill his alleged victim from behind bars.
The official said Schlacta may have had contact with others to accomplish that goal. It prompted a judge to order additional restrictions, including no contact with other inmates, no mail, and no phone calls unless it’s his attorney.
Randy Sutton, Schlacta's attorney, denies the allegations, telling News 3 the claim is inherently unreliable because they were made by a fellow inmate who wrote a letter to the victim's family warning them about Schlacta.
The investigation into the alleged threat is ongoing. At this point no additional charges have been filed against Schlacta.
