HENDERSON (KSNV MyNews3) – A smoke detector awakened a woman and enabled her to activate a 911 system and escape her home this morning in the area of Pecos Road and Wigwam.
According to a news release from the City of Henderson Fire Department, firefighters responded to the call at 1:40 a.m. The first Henderson Fire Department unit arrived to find a fire in a wall of the attached garage of a two-story residence.
The fire crews initiated an offensive attack by entering the garage, opening the wall and quickly locating the fire and extinguishing the flames.
One person and two dogs were displaced from their home; they were assisted by the Red Cross.
Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the fire. A Henderson building inspector was called to the scene to assist the Fire Department. Nevada Energy and Southwest gas were also called to the scene to secure the utilities to the home.
There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
