A Venezuelan smuggler has been sentenced to three months in prison in Jamaica after he was found guilty of swallowing $103,500 in cash to smuggle it off the island.
He was trying to board a flight from Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay to Trinidad, but was stopped and officers became suspicious while questioning him. He was later arrested and complained of sickness. When he was taken to hospital, he passed 80 plastic packages containing the money over two days.
Eddy Alberio Mancipe had already been held in police custody for eight months before being charged and sentenced this week, and the agency says he was "deported with immediate effect."
Financial Investigation Division chief Justin Felice says, "This is the first instance that we have found cash being smuggled from Jamaica in such a fashion." Copyright WENN.com
