LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) – Metro detectives say today that a shooting Wednesday morning on southbound Interstate 15 near mile marker 70 was a murder conspiracy involving the victim’s adopted son.
According to a release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Robert Bessey called 911 around 4:35 a.m. to report the rear window of his car had been shot out as he drove along I-15 near the Valley of Fire. Shortly thereafter, he realized that he had been shot in the head/neck.
NHP and medical personnel responded to the scene and transported Bessey to the hospital. He underwent surgery, and a bullet was recovered. Bessey is now undergoing physical therapy and is recovering at his home.
After interviewing the victim and conducting follow up investigation, LVMPD Violent Crimes detectives concluded this was an attempted murder conspiracy. Michael Bessey, 21, the victim’s adopted son, has been arrested for attempted murder.
A second suspect, Richard Pearson, is still outstanding. He is also related to the victim by marriage.
Surveillance footage recovered in the case, shows the suspects at a nearby convenience store shortly before the shooting attack.
