LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- Knowledgeable sources provided critical details Thursday of the brutal attack on a 23-year-old Las Vegas woman, apparently by her ex-boyfriend, a mixed martial arts fighter who prefers to be known as “War Machine.”
Sources tell News 3 that officers were actually called to the area two hours before Christy Mack, clinging to life, made a desperate dash to a neighbor’s house on the night of Aug. 8.
After the brutal attack, Mack's 911-call for help was seconds too short, leaving the 23-year-old adult film actress alone after being brutally beaten and disfigured. Sources say Mack called Metro Police about 2 a.m. that night, but the phone disconnected before dispatchers were able to get any information. They made several attempts to call back, but were unsuccessful.
Police were sent to check the residence, but a technical glitch sent them to the wrong address. A second call was made to emergency dispatchers about 4 a.m. Mack ran to a neighbor’s house after having been brutally beaten and sexually assaulted. Her hair had been reportedly sawed off with a knife.
Sources say at that moment there was no available police unit to immediately send, confirming neighbors’ accounts it took about 15 minutes for police to arrive.
Mack later Tweeted that she had suffered a broken nose, broken bones around her eyes, leaving her unable to chew or see out of her left eye.
Koppenhaver has defended himself on Twitter, saying that he went to Mack’s home to surprise her with an engagement ring.
Cable TV star, “Dog The Bounty Hunter,” whose given name is Duane Chapman, has vowed to find Koppenhaver.
