LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) – All southbound lanes of Interstate 15 are blocked this morning after a rollover accident injured the driver and his child.
Accordin to a report in the Las Vegas Sun, the man was driving an Chevrolet Astrovan north on I-15 with a young child passenger about 9:45 a.m. when he lost control, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
The vehicle went across the median and rolled into southbound I-15, Trooper Loy Hixson said.
The man, who was not wearing a seat belt, and child, who was improperly strapped into a car seat, were thrown from the van, Hixson said.
The man was in critical condition, while the child suffered non-life-threatening injuries, officials said. Both were transported to University Medical Center.
Troopers shut down southbound and northbound lanes in the area around Lamb Boulevard. Traffic was expected to be blocked for more than two hours, Hixson said.
No other vehicles appeared to have been involved in the crash.
