HENDERSON (KSNV MyNews3.com) – Alcohol and speed are thought to be factors in an accident that killed a Las Vegas man from early Saturday after the car he was riding in struck a block wall.
Brian Peters, 23, died at the scene. The Clark County coroner's office said Peters died from multiple blunt force injuries.
Arnold Cheung, 24, of Henderson was driving a BMW 550i eastbound on Pebble Road approaching Carnegie Street Saturday about 2:20 a.m. at a high rate of speed. At the intersection drivers must turn left or right; however, Cheung failed to stop at the stop sign or turn. He continued straight across the intersection and struck the block wall.
Cheung and his Peters were trapped in the crushed vehicle. Cheung was extricated from the car and taken to Sunrise Hospital’s Trauma Unit for treatment. His condition is unknown.
A preliminary investigation indicated that speed and alcohol appeared to be factors in the crash. Blood was drawn from Cheung at the hospital for testing. He faces a DUI with death charge if his blood alcohol content is over the legal limit.
The death was the fourth traffic-related fatality in Henderson this year.
