LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) – One bid equals new ownership for an old courthouse.
Derek Stevens, the CEO of The D Hotel and Casino in downtown Las Vegas, was the sole bidder on the old Clark County Courthouse. And his $10 million bid was accepted this morning by the Clark County Commissioners.
Bids were allowed since late August, with the deadline at 10 a.m. today. Stevens put in the only bid. He said afterward that they are still planning exactly how they will use the space.
The existing building is seven stories tall with 315,180 square feet, including the parking garage and common areas. It’s located on 2.76 acres of land bordered by Third Street on the east, Casino Center Boulevard on the west, and Carson and Bridger Avenues to the north and south.
The property has been vacant since 2005 when the construction of the Regional Justice Center at 200 Lewis Ave. was complete and courthouse operations moved to the new complex.
