Phoenix, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Phoenix Suns forward P.J. Tucker issued an apology after being sentenced for a drunk driving charge on Monday.

Tucker was sentenced to three days in jail and 11 days of home detention on Monday for an arrest on May 10 in Scottsdale.

"I am truly sorry and I take full responsibility for my actions," said Tucker in a statement. "No excuses. It is now my responsibility to examine my life and make the changes necessary to ensure this never happens again. That process has begun and will continue with the love and support of my family, friends and, of course, the amazing Phoenix Suns."

The Suns, despite the arrest in May, signed Tucker to a three-year contract in July.

"In considering this matter, we concluded that P.J. was sincere in his remorse and in his resolve to accept the consequences of his actions," said Suns president of basketball operations Lon Babby in a statement. "We are convinced that he will take the necessary steps to avoid any such conduct in the future. The Suns do not in any way condone his conduct, but we do support him as he works through this."

Tucker averaged career highs of 9.4 points and 6.5 rebounds in 81 games last season for the Suns, his second with the team.
