LAS VEGAS (AP & MyNews3) - Police have not identified a motive in a Las Vegas crime spree earlier this week that included a carjacking and home invasions that left a suspect and a homeowner dead.
Police believe 27-year-old Cody David Winters shot and killed 59-year-old Richard Ramos after bursting into his home. An alleged accomplice, 35-year-old Natasha Jackson, is under arrest.
The Bonneville County sheriff's office in Idaho provided a mug shot of Winters.
Two days after that crime spree, the neighborhood remains on edge.
According to the Clark County Coroner Winters, 27, died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Court records show Winters has been in and out of prison 13 times since 2006. The most recent violations, dating back to April 29, of 2014, indicate he was in Idaho until April of this year.
Winters has been arrested for driving under the influence four times in Idaho's Bonneville County.
He also has served time on battery and drug convictions. Court records also show Winters has a son. The documents indicate a complaint for paternity was filed.
Winters is originally from Ririe, Idaho, which is just outside Idaho Falls. He has a brother and a sister.
Metro police also released the names of the officers who fired at Winters. William Moore, 34, has been employed with the department for eight years. Officer Ryan Rotta, 24, has worked with Metro since 2008.
