LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) --
A suspect was shot and killed by Metro police officers early Saturday when he came out of an apartment armed with multiple handguns.
A Metro news release said the shooting occurred about 2 a.m. at 3950 Mountain Vista, near East Flamingo and Boulder Highway, after a 911 call was received and arguing could be heard in the background as well as someone asking another person to put a gun down.
Metro said officers arriving at the apartment complex were confronted by a man armed with several guns. The man pointed one weapon at officers and three officers fired at the suspect.
The man was taken to Sunrise Hospital and pronounced dead.
No officers were injured.
Metro's investigation showed the suspect may have fired one or more rounds prior to the officers' arrival. A bullet passed through an occupied neighboring apartment but no injuries were reported. The investigation has yet to determine if the suspect fired the round or if it came from one of the officers.
The officers have been put on routine paid administrative leave. Their names will be released after 48 hours.
The identity of the man will be released by the Clark County coroner's office.
