Houston, TX ( - The Houston Texans made an exchange of experienced safeties on Monday, re-signing veteran Danieal Manning while releasing Chris Clemons in the process.

Manning returns for a second tour of duty in Houston, having started 35 games for the Texans over the previous three seasons. The ninth-year pro was released by Houston in March and subsequently signed by Cincinnati, but was part of the Bengals' final roster cuts on Saturday.

The 32-year-old was limited to just six games in 2013 by a knee injury, with Manning recording 24 tackles, one sack and two passes defensed.

Clemons signed a two-year contract with the Texans during the offseason following a five-year stint with the Miami Dolphins. The Clemson product started all 16 games for Miami in each of the last two seasons, amassing over 90 tackles in both of those campaigns.
