LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- Two small children and an adult were seriously injured Saturday evening when an SUV apparently lost control in a Wal-Mart parking lot in the southwest part of the valley.

Metro police reported the accident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. in the parking lot at 7200 Arroyo Crossings.

The driver, 29-year-old Getnet Tefera of Las Vegas and two children, age 4 and 2, suffered serious injuries and were transported to UMC Trauma.

The accident report said witnesses and evidence indicated that the 2012 Nissan Pathfinder was headed northbound in the parking lot when it hit a planter box and stop sign. The SUV then continued in the northeasterly direction and struck a tree, shopping cart corral and then a column supporting the roof at the front of the Wal-Mart.

The accident remains under investigation by Metro.
