LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- Nevada Congresswoman Dina Titus got the meeting with the Department of Energy she's been demanding for weeks now.

News 3’s Mackenzie Warren, who has been reporting on the nuclear waste issue in Nevada, has the details of this meeing.

Congresswoman Dina Titus was voting on the house floor and unable to comment herself.

News 3 have not been able to speak to Titus directly since her afternoon meeting with the DOE Deputy Energy Secretary Daniel Poneman.

However, News 3 did talk to Titus' communications director Caitlin Teare.

Teare says the meeting was productive and raised several new issues about the radioactive shipment.

In a statement to News 3 Teare says, “While there were a number of additional questions raised, the Deputy Secretary promised to follow-up and increase communication on these important issues.”

We know Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval is also waiting for follow-up from the DOE.

The Department of Energy has plans to send 403 canisters of uranium--nuclear waste---from a lab in Tennessee to Area 5 at the Nevada national security site, which is some 65 miles outside of Las Vegas.

Congresswoman Titus was the first Nevada politician to blow the whistle on the shipment and later Gov. Brian Sandoval also demanded a meeting with the DOE.

He has yet to reveal what was discussed in his meeting.

Titus wants to make sure if and when that waste is brought to Area 5 it will go around Las Vegas and not through it--say on the Spaghetti Bowl which is in Titus' district.

She also wants to know the waste is safe.

This evening it's a late night of voting in Washington but tomorrow morning congresswoman Titus will tell us exactly how her conversation went with the DOE.

We know she had a long list of concerns.
