LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- A wedding business known as Griffin Mansions is filing for bankruptcy.

News 3 obtained documents confirming that Griffin Events has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection.

Dozens of distraught valley couples have contacted News 3 about the scandal involving the business -- including couples from other states.

They had all booked weddings at Griffin Mansions, an all-inclusive spot near Southern Highlands.

A forced shut down threw a major wrench in their wedding plans. Many had given Griffin thousands of dollars for wedding costs.

It's not clear at this point whether the affected couples know that the venue is closed.

Griffin had been booking weddings all the way through 2014.

The mansion was shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District for various violations on May 13 but failed to notify many couples until days before their wedding.

The affected brides and grooms tell us this created major drama during what was supposed to be a magical time.

Also, Griffin executives failed to submit all of the necessary documents to complete the bankruptcy filing.

They left out necessary details like who their creditors are and names of officers and directors.

They'll have to submit these documents in order to complete the process.

I had planned the have my wedding this November 23 at Griffin Mansions. I had informed them that I was going through cervical cancer treatment I am stage III and it's not looking great for me. I specifically told them this probably would be the last time that I would be able to see a lot of my extended family. As if that wasn't bad enough, my fiancé is in the military and is on a nine-month appointment serving our country and they knew all of this... and they wrote me a contract on June 24 Portia De Voe. How they could take our money, this day was suppose to be our day...one he remembers our love by... Now we are lost. Horrible people.

My wedding was booked at the Griffin Mansion for October 12 - I had no clue what was going on until my Mom tried logging on their website and noticed it was down. Then, we found this article :( We have 90 days to find a new venue! And how would I even start trying to get my money back?! :(((

I got completely swindeled by Griffin and their company Griffin Events Inc. just filed a NEvada bankruptcy last week! They took my $10,000 wedding deposit and now refuse to give it back. I called a law firm (Kupperlin Law 702-614-0600) and they are taking calls from out of state creditors who have been swindled by Griffin too. I am definitely willing to be part of a out of state committee that formed in order to try to get my deposit back.
