KIEV, Ukraine (AP) - Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has called a special parliament session for next week to discuss tensions in the country that have spiraled after at least two protesters were killed in violent clashes with police.
There was no indication that Yanukovych's call represented an inclination to compromise with opposition protesters who are demanding his resignation. Yanukovych backers hold a majority of seats in the parliament.
Opposition leaders have said Yanukovych must make concessions by Thursday evening or face renewed protester clashes with police.
