LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- They know what sacrifice is all about after what they went through fighting for our country.
Dozens of wounded veterans and their families arrived in the valley on Wednesday, and The Venetian and Palazzo are treating them to a three-day getaway to give them a taste of Nevada's appreciation.
Joshua Schichtl and his wife, Emily, spent the past four years at a Maryland hospital after he lost his right eye and facial bones during his tour in Iraq. It's hard for them to describe what it's like to see more than a thousand people expressing their gratitude.
“It's touching, it's overwhelming,” he said. “It's hard to put into words you appreciate your service member.”
It’s an appreciation shared by a group that is hard to miss.
This is The Venetian's eighth time hosting this event, which began in 2007. It is conducting its Las Vegas vacation for veterans twice a year.
