LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- News 3 has learned former Henderson City Councilwoman Kathleen Vermillion was hospitalized after a medical event occurred at her Henderson home on Friday.
Vermillion's family members describe the event to News 3 as an attempted suicide.
Vermillion is at the center of a criminal investigation into spending of funds donated to the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth, a charity she founded.
She is also suing her ex-boyfriend, Clark County Commissioner Steve Sisolak. Vermillion accuses Sisolak of disclosing her private medical information.
Sisolak denies that charge. Sisolak in turn has accused Vermillion and her lawyer and an associated public relations executive with attempting to extort him for $3.9 million dollars in exchange for dropping her lawsuit. Vermillion and her associates deny that accusation.
News 3 will have further coverage of this story beginning on News 3 at 4.
