LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- Every year Walker Furniture chooses families in our valley who could really use furniture.
The families each have unique circumstances. And while they deal with tough times, in comes hope, with the first delivery of the 'Home for the Holidays'.
Deandre and Byron Haney debate over who gets the top bunk. These brothers are ecstatic to finally be able to sleep in their own beds instead of sharing a twin sized mattress.
"Best bed ever," shouts Byron Haney after it was assemble.
Walker Furniture chose their mother, Octavia Haney, after the woman's sister wrote a letter. Haney has been suffering from strokes as she deals with congestive heart failure, and kidney problems. Octavia says she doesn't have much, but has tried to make it work, even using an old couch that was in a house fire.
But not anymore now that Walker Furniture completely refurnished their apartment.
"This is like my Christmas for my family. It's like Christmas day for me," Octavia Haney said.
"It was a blessing. God did bless us with this so knowing what we've been through, the things that we had to do to get to where we're at," said Haney's boyfriend Michael Howard.
Not only did the bunk bed so they can each have their own bed, the family also want a brand new dining room set, new couches and in the master bedroom there now was a brand new bed and other furnture.
To top it off. the Las Vegas Rescue Mission blessed them with all kinds of food to get them through the holidays.
And the giving overflowed. Robert Brunner, Executive Director of the Las Vegas Rescue Mission not only brought food but toys for the boys and their baby sister Keianah.
"And just seeing the gratefulness in the eyes of the family means an awful lot. you know that if they were not provided with they probably wouldn't have it," Brunner said.
Now this family has new furniture, and a new outlook.
"It's mind blowing, it really is. I'm just like: thank you, thank you, thank you. thank you," Octavia Haney said.
