LAS VEGAS -- The Clark County Fire Department responded to a fire at the Clark County Wetlands Park, which is located one mile east of Boulder Highway near Sam Boyd Stadium, at 2:38 p.m. on Monday.
The fire was north of the nature center and involved approximately two acres of brush.
More than 1,200 feet of hose was deployed to extinguish the fire. The Nature Center and the parking lot were evacuated, and 12 visitors in the wetlands brush area were escorted out by firefighters.
Three engines, one water tender, one brush truck, and one battalion chief responded for a total of 16 firefighters.
There were no injuries, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
With the high winds expected tomorrow and the potential for a flare-up, park officials have decided to keep the Nature Center and all the trails at the Nature Preserve at Clark County Wetlands Park closed on Tuesday.
Field trips and volunteer sessions have been cancelled. All other trailheads in Clark County Wetlands Park will remain open.
