LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) – A wheelchair-bound man is fighting for his life after he was hit by a car Wednesday night on the west side of town.

It happened at the intersection of Charleston and Community College Drive, right by the College of Southern Nevada, just before 7 p.m.

Police say the man drove his motorized wheelchair into the intersection before the light was red and was hit in the center lane.

He was taken to UMC in critical condition.

The accident shut down the intersection for hours.

And BTW I am sorry for the mis spelled words and/or improper grammer usage. I am angry and not thinking very clearly right this minute.

I will post every single day that I am almost struck down. I have posted on your site before, indicating that my mother and I obey all traffic laws. We walk everywhere. She is in a walker. It happend again this morning. As I stepped off the curb IN A CROSSWALK a driver swung around the corner on 8th street one block from Las Vegas Blvd. at approx 35 miles per hour on the phone. The car came inches from me. As I always do, I put my hands in the air and yelled "You didn't see me!!" I have been walking from my home on bridger & 8th street for approx 10 days now to my bank on Las BVegas Blvd. EVERY DAY I have been nearly hit inches from it many many times. It is to the point now that I don't step off the curb even when a car is waiting for me to cross the street. I may also add that one of these vehicles was a METRO POLICE CAR! In case anything happens to me and I get struck down, I want you to keep this as proof that I am desperately trying to say help me. As I have posted many times before.

First, learn to spell correctly. SEcondly, read the article better. This guy crossed the street before the light had turned red, therefore making him a jaywalker. The car that struck him is not at fault. So what does your rant have to do with using a 5000 lb car as a weapon??...Give me a break

This is rediculous. This whole valley is rediculous. The economy hasn't been kind to folks but that is no reason to use a vehicle as a weapon! There needs to be a new driving test to be taken to reinstate everyone to be on the roads behind the wheel of a 5,000 + pound vehicle. But also Metro needs to inforce the laws of the road to start surpressing the road rage that is out there. Then we need to get rid of all the lawyers that are working to get the tickets either thrown out of court or reduced to a non-moving violation. You know the ones like the 'ticket busters'. These groups give drivers the sense that it doesn't matter, someone else will take care of it. There is not accountability for thier own actions. And 3rd, the Court system needs to review the driving record history of each driver that comes before them in the court room (this shouldn't be too hard as the cops have access to this information when they pull you over!) We are a relativily new city and yes we will make mistakes as we try to keep up with the growth here but we are not California, this is Nevada and we need to come up with our own laws and legislation!
