PHOENIX -- Take a close look at the man in this surveillance video. The one wearing a "security" shirt. He's at Estrella Pharmacy up to no good.

Watch as he waits for the pain pills he's demanded, an employee confronts him with a gun. The suspect puts his arms up to surrender, falls to the ground, then takes off running, all this caught on tape.

He gets away there, but less than an hour later, the suspect, identified as James Elbert Johnson, is seen at Melrose Pharmacy near Indian School and 7th Avenue. He again goes in and demands pills.

"She came hollering to the back saying there was a guy with a gun at the pharmacy," said Good Samaritan Ted Lewis.

Lewis, who owns a furniture store right across the street from the pharmacy jumped into action, along with one of his employees.

"I had to run here first to grab the pistols, and, after we grabbed them, we ran as quick as we could," said Lewis.

"I made a beeline straight for the front door because I could see somebody in there at that point."

"He was standing there in the doorway, pistol on one hand, the pills on the other hand looking for his getaway car and just drew down on him... and my old days in the military just came back at me and I just barked real loud, "Drop it!" and a few other choice profanities and he hit the dirt," said Lewis.

Employees - thankful to Ted for getting the suspect off the street.

"We sent them a little card to let them know that we appreciate them helping us out."

"Who knows how many other stores they would have hit after ours," said Pharmacist, Larry Yee.

Police are still looking for that man's alleged accomplice.
