LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) — Former Nevada Assemblyman Steven Brooks is back in Las Vegas, set to face another series of criminal charges.

Brooks, 42, who had been in a California jail for more than a year on charges of evading police and resisting arrest in San Bernardino County, was booked Tuesday night into the Clark County Detention Center.

He is facing several charges, including domestic battery; providing a false state of obstruct a public officer; and resisting a public officer with a firearm. He is scheduled to appear in court at 8 a.m. Thursday.

Brooks’ troubles began Jan. 19, 2013, when he was accused of making threats against Assembly Speaker Marilyn Kirkpatrick. A mental health evaluation followed, and Brooks was released from custody.

His attorney maintained it was all a misunderstanding, but a few weeks later Brooks had another run-in with police, this time a domestic dispute with his wife.

He was removed from office March 28, 2013, and hours later was arrested in Victorville, Calif., over the confrontation with police.
