LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) – The woman facing manslaughter charges in the rollover death of her niece was granted house arrest this morning and allowed to leave the Clark County Detention Center.

Wendy Carrion, 22, faces misdemeanor and felony charges, including involuntary manslaughter, in the death of Gabriela Casias, 9.

The accident occurred just after 8 a.m. July 2 on northbound Interstate 15 just north of the Spaghetti Bowl. A Nevada Highway Patrol report says Carrion overcorrected near the D Street off-ramp, causing the rollover.

The 22-year-old has been in custody since Aug. 27. But this morning, after a brief argument from prosecuting and defense attorneys, Judge John Boneventure decided to let her out on house arrest.

A letter from the deceased child’s mother in support of Carrion was presented.
