More than 30 Clark County firefighters battled an apartment fire this afternoon on East Tropicana Avenue.
According to a Clark County Fire Department news release, crews responded at 12:10 p.m. to the Tropicana Royale Apartments. The fire was inside Apt. 271 and on the balcony. The fire spread to the apartment building’s roof, but thanks to aggressive firefighting tactics, firefighters were able to extinguish it before it damaged either of the adjoining apartments.
The fire caused approximately $70,000 in damage, and the source of the fire was determined to be a discarded cigarette on the apartment balcony.
A total of 33 firefighters responded, including four engine companies, two ladder trucks, one rescue unit, two battalion chiefs and two fire investigators. No one was injured.
