Victim, suspect in home invasions ID'd by coroner

LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) – The Clark County coroner’s office has released the identities of the man shot and killed by a suspect in a pair of break-ins who was later killed by Metro officers.

Richard Ramos, 59, was killed Tuesday morning after a pair of suspects who had reportedly carjacked a vehicle broke into his home, with a man later identified as Cody David Winters, 27, shooting and killing him.

Winters was later killed by Metro officers after wounding another hostage.

Natasha Galenn Jackson, 34, of Las Vegas, is facing charges of murder with a deadly weapon; attempted murder with a deadly weapon; burglary with a firearm; attempted home invasion; kidnapping with a deadly weapon; robbery with a deadly weapon; and attempted robbery with a deadly weapon.

This is Metro’s 12th officer-involved shooting for 2014. The LVMPD Force Investigation Team is currently investigating the officers’ use of force in this case. Their findings will be forwarded to the Clark County district attorney for review.

An examination of this event is being conducted by the LVMPD Critical Incident Review Team. This review will focus on policy, tactics and training as it relates to this use of force.
