LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) – One person is dead and two people were injured Monday night after the vehicle they were riding in left the road and hit a tree.

According to Metro officers, a 2004 Ford Mustang was traveling eastbound on Cheyenne Avenue at Las Vegas Boulevard North just after 11:15 p.m. at a high rate of speed.

The Mustang rotated off the south side of Cheyenne Avenue and hit a mature tree in the parking lot of the Cheyenne Plaza. All three occupants were ejected from the vehicle; both passengers – Dominique Francis, 23, and Travon Green, 25, both of Las Vegas -- were transported to UMC Trauma from the scene with life-threatening injuries.

The driver, a 26-year-old man from Las Vegas, was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel.

This collision was the 80th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction in 2013. The collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Accident Investigation Section.
