CLEARWATER, Fla. — Doug Smith is alive, thanks to his dog, Zane.

Smith was alone with his dog recently when he suffered a heart attack.

Zane noticed something was not right and started barking loudly. That alerted a nearby lawn crew, who were eventually able to get Smith medical help.

Smith says if Zane was not there, he is sure he wouldn't be here now.

The Florida man continues to recover in a rehab facility and will eventually be home with his life-saving four-legged friend.
