LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) – The man suspected in a deadly shooting Thursday night at the Palms Casino entered his plea this morning at the Regional Justice Center.
Jim Johnson, 25, pleaded not guilty to the shooting death of aspiring rapper Evan Plunkett during a music video filming. His lawyer asked for $50,000 bail with house arrest, arguing that Johnson was a close friend of the deceased, the gun went off accidentally, and he has cooperated with police.
The prosecution said that Johnson was sitting at a table with marijuana and three firearms, including a glock with no safety. Johnson also was out on bail on another case and has three misdemeanors and a felony case pending.
Bail was set at $100,000. Johnson’s next court appearance is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. July 1.
