BOULDER CITY (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- The mess in Washington threatens to shut down a major athletic event at Lake Mead. A triathlon promising to bring thousands to Boulder City and Lake Mead now faces cancellation.
Cedric Keppler, the CEO of BBSC Endurance Sports and event organizer, wants lawmakers to get it together.
Keppler said he went to the Lake Mead parks office Tuesday to see wither the event would be effected. The place was shuttered because of the partial government shutdown.
Thousands of athletes are left to wonder if the event, scheduled for Oct. 19 would go on.
Keppler said the financial toll of the partial shutdown could be devastating, not only for the organizers but for Boulder City, with more than 1,300 athletes and their families scheduled to attend.
