LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) – A fire early this morning at an apartment complex near Maryland Parkway and Tropicana Avenue caused about $20,000 in damage, according to the Clark County Fire Department.
There were no injuries.
A news release says the call was received just before 1:20 a.m. for a fire at a four-plex apartment building in the 1300 block of Dorothy Avenue.
A total of 36 fire personnel responded. Crews entered the structure to find fire inside the walls of apartment No. 2, both on the first and second floors, with some extension to the attic.
Crews applied water to the fire inside the walls while exterior crews cut holes in the roof with chain saws to ventilate the fire, hot gas, and smoke from the attic. Crews knocked down and controlled the fire in 17 minutes.
There was a workman in the building doing some plumbing work at the time of the fire, and the soldering of the plumbing is being investigated as the possible cause of the fire. Two of the four apartments were occupied, and the owners were able to return to their apartments after the fire.
