LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) –
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is searching for clues after a body was discovered Tuesday afternoon in a flood control channel north of downtown Las Vegas.
According to a Metro news release, the Dispatch Center received a call around 2:55 p.m. reporting a deceased person was found in a flood control channel about 300 yards north of B Street and Owens Avenue.
Investigating officers said the victim, a male, had signs of decomposition. Preliminary forensic evidence from the scene suggests the body had been there for about 15 to 20 days.
Upon examination of the body, it appears the victim may have suffered apparent stab wounds.
No suspects have been identified, and the motive remains unknown.
This is the 30th homicide investigated by Metro this year.
The identity of the victim as well as the cause and manner of death will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.
