LAS VEGAS -- The Clark County coroner's office has identified the man shot to death at an apartment complex on the 4300 block of South Escondido Street near the UNLV campus.

The homicide victim has been identified as 57-year-old Alvine Eugene Moore of Las Vegas. Death was caused by a gun shot wound to the chest.

The shooting happened around 8:10 p.m. Tuesday night at the Tammany Hall Apartments. Police were responding to a report of gun shots fired in the area of Harmon Avenue and Maryland Parkway.

Arriving officers were directed to an upstairs apartment, and entered the residence through an open sliding glass front door.

The officers immediately observed a black male adult lying face down in the living room, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Arriving medical personnel transported the subject to the Sunrise Trauma Center where he was pronounced deceased.

The investigation into this crime by the LVMPD Homicide Section determined the deceased individual was the resident of the apartment.

The investigation further indicates a violent struggle had recently taken place inside of the apartment, and the victim may have known his attackers.

This is the 91st homicide to occur within LVMPD’s jurisdiction in 2013, compared with 59 at this time last year.

The investigation into this incident remains ongoing. Anyone with any information concerning this crime is asked to contact the LVMPD Homicide Section at (702) 828-3521 or Crime Stoppers by phone at 385-5555 or on the internet at www.crimestoppersofnv.com.
