LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) – One person is under arrest and in the hospital this morning after exchanging gunfire with Metro officers Thursday night near Carey and Nellis.

According to Metro, officers stopped a vehicle near Walnut and Lake Mead around 10:45 p.m. As they approached, multiple shots came from the suspect vehicle, which then took off.

As Metro pursued, more shots came from the vehicle. Officers eventually found the vehicle abandoned at Dolly and Carey. The suspect resumed shooting at the officers, who returned fire. The suspect then took off on foot.

More officers, including a K-9 unit, were called. The suspect was found in a backyard on El Tovar and told to surrender. When the suspect refused, the K-9 unit was deployed. The suspect was then taken into custody and also transported to UMC for treatment after the K-9 was used.
