Metro to host community event after weekend shooting

LAS VEGAS -- Approximately 12:25 a.m. Saturday, Metro officers responded to a reported shooting in the 1700 block of Curran Way in west Las Vegas. Arriving officers discovered a group of individuals who were attending a party had been fired upon by unknown assailants. Tragically, six people were injured during the event with one person sustaining life-threatening wounds.

Initially, witnesses and victims of the shooting were not cooperative with investigators. However as the investigation progressed, numerous leads were developed with the assistance of community members.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Bolden Area Command will host a community awareness gathering at 5 p.m. today in the 1700 block of Curran Way in response to this crime.

This police event will encourage additional witnesses to come forward with information to assist in solving this crime, and help the community heal. The ultimate goal is to maintain the quality of life within this neighborhood and to continue Metro’s partnership with the community.
