MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee Police Department officer had the choice of patrolling in his squad car on his bicycle Monday, and he chose the bike.

Officer Robert Waldoch chose to ride because he didn't think the weather was that bad.

"Right now the weather hasn't been as bad as everybody thought, at least I think so," he said. "It's a way for me to go out and connect with people."

He says if the wind chill is below minus-20, it's too cold for him. With all this snow and ice, he admits he's had quite a few slips and falls.

"Biking in the snow is rough. Even with the snow tires that are studded, you're still slipping and sliding around," Waldoch says.
