NORTH LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) – A 67-year-old man is dead after being struck outside a crosswalk Monday night near Cheyenne Avenue and Commerce Street.

According to a news release from the North Las Vegas Police Department, dispatch received calls of a crash just west of Cheyenne and Commerce. Arriving officers found the man unresponsive in the middle of the eastbound travel lanes. Medical personnel attended to the man and later pronounced him dead on scene.

Preliminary investigation indicates the man attempted to cross Cheyenne Avenue outside a crosswalk when a 23-year-old female driver in a silver Toyota sedan, traveling eastbound, hit the man.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle remained on scene and was not injured in the crash. At this point, it does not appear that alcohol is a factor. No arrests have been made at this time, and investigators are looking into the details that led up to the crash.

The identity and cause of death of the victim will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.
