NORTH LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) – The North Las Vegas Police Department is conducting a city-wide saturation patrol this morning, targeting distracted drivers for pedestrian safety.
Officers are holding a Back-To-School Traffic Enforcement targeting dangerous driving behaviors occurring in and around school zones in North Las Vegas.
Roughly 311,000 students returned to school in the Clark County School District. Many of those children must cross dangerous intersections on their way to and from school each day.
Officers are focusing their efforts on drivers who disregard posted speed limits, fail to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk, pass vehicles stopped for pedestrians, and pedestrians who fail to use a crosswalk to safely cross the street.
This event was planned in conjunction with the Statewide campaign known as "Joining Forces" and made possible by a Traffic Safety Grant from the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety.
