LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- Money to help the troubled Rawson-Neal Psychiatric Hospital could come faster than expected if Gov. Brian Sandoval gets his way.
The Interim Finance Committee will hold a special meeting on Tuesday. Sandoval is pushing to get money to the psychiatric hospital sooner than its scheduled timetable.
Lawmakers approved $4 million over the next two years for the hospital, which came under fire after busing patients out of state where most didn't know anyone with no follow-ups or plan for treatment.
Multiple investigations and staff firings followed.
One of the state's top health officials recently laid out plans to add more staff, beds, reduce the backlog of patients in emergency rooms and improve overall conditions at the hospital.
Rawson-Neal lost its national accreditation just last week from the Joint Commission on Accreditation. The hospital is not appealing the decision, instead choosing to work to make changes for another inspection.
