LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- This Rip-Off Alert focuses on a ruined wedding.
A nine-person wedding party was supposed to stay at a rental home within walking distance to the church. It sounded perfect, and $3,000 was wired.
Then the bride went to the home and found that the house was for rent but not by the scammer.
Apparently, scammers have taken the legitimate ad -- which is posted on rental sites -- and copied it to craigslist.
"We found it on Craigslist before, and all we can do it flag it as spam,” said Brendan Kenny, whose uncle owns the house. “Other than that, it's a public classified ad. There's not much else we can do about it."
"We went to the house and knocked on the door, and there were people in the house,” said bride-to-be Angela Miceli. “I mean, I was...I started crying."
The couple is staying in a hotel and still looking for a house to rent for the rest of the wedding.
