Inmate convicted in 1975 homicide dies in prison

LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) – A man incarcerated since 1978 for a first-degree murder conviction in Clark County has died, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections.

Lawrence Schultz, 73, died Monday of a prolonged illness at the Regional Medical Facility at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City.

Schultz was convicted Jan. 3, 1978, in the July 1975 shooting death of William Harvey Singley, whose body was found in October 1975 west of Mount Charleston.

The Carson City coroner’s office responded to the facility. An autopsy will be conducted. Schultz’s next of kin has been notified.
