LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- Sport-Social, a one-of-kind center helping children with autism, is turning to the community for help after someone set the facility on fire.

For owner Andrew Devitt, the owner of Sport-Social, the torched walls and charred items are painful reminders of a heartless act.

Devitt says he walked in Monday morning to extensive fire and water damage after someone torched the facility.

The center is a unique place offering help hard to find in the valley. Here, children struggling with social skills learn how to interact with others like any other kid.

They also develop important social skills through art, music and drama.

The White family has been coming with their 10-year-old son for the past year.

“It's been a remarkable change,” said Sarah White. “We attribute that to Sport-Social.”

When the Whites heard about the fire, they came with checkbook in hand ready to help get the place back up and running.

In all, the facility houses three groups, including autism building blocks, which offers specialized behavioral therapy, and a non-profit called Feat, offering vital resources for families.

Late Wednesday, fire investigators conducted a thorough investigation, police had a suspect and arrested Samuel Powers for first degree arson and burglary.
